The latest FIFA ranking of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations winners, Cameroon, is not a 100 percent, true reflection of the quality of football in the Central African nation according to assistant Coach, Sven Vandenbroeck.
Four weeks ago, before the tournament in Gabon, the Indomitable Lions were ranked 12th in Africa and 62nd in the world, but victories over top ranked Egypt, Ghana, Burkina Faso and coupled with other results saw the now five-time African champions move up 29 spots to 3rd best team on the continent and 33rd globally.
In a chat with footballliveng, Vandenbroeck said Cameroon still had a long way to go with improving the quality of football in the Country, building a solid team and cannot afford to compromise on investing more in their Young players.
The former Defensive Midfielder, who played for Eredivisie side Roda JC , said the Indomitable Lions Coaches will introduce more Young players to the squad ahead of the FIFA Confederations Cup in June and don’t want to be bothered with the ranking.
